About SmileSort
Built by dentists who got tired of losing time to clinical photography.
SmileSort was created to solve a problem we kept seeing in our own work and in practices around us: clinical photographs were easy to take, but surprisingly difficult to organise, find and share properly.
Why SmileSort exists
It started with a corrupted hard drive.
One of our founders had spent years building a library of clinical cases and photography, all stored on an external hard drive.
Then one day, it stopped working.
Nearly ten years of work, cases, photographs and memories of treatments carried out over years, suddenly became inaccessible.
What surprised us most was what happened when we started talking to other dentists about it.
Everyone seemed to have their own version of the same pain point. A corrupted SD card. A lost drive. Thousands of photographs sitting on a laptop. Folders inside folders on Google Drive. Images that had been taken carefully, but never properly sorted.
And for both of us, the pain point went beyond simply losing photographs.
At almost every dental course we attended, the same questions kept coming up:
“How do you store your clinical photographs? How do you systematically organise them? And how do you share them efficiently?”
There never seemed to be a simple answer.
The problem becomes even clearer when a patient you treated two years ago suddenly asks for their photographs. You know you took them... but were they on that SD card? The old laptop? An external drive? Somewhere in Google Drive?
The photographs exist. Finding them is the problem.
That is why SmileSort exists.
To give clinical photography a proper home - where photographs can be organised as they are uploaded, found when they are needed, stored securely and shared in seconds.
We built the system we wished we already had.
